Existing in a society that is constantly on the go can leave you feeling overly exhausted and counting down the hours until you can lay your head to rest. You find yourself sitting at your desk daydreaming about your Tempur-Pedic pillow and the familiar fluff of your comforter. Though when your teeth are brushed, you’ve showered off the day, and the opportunity finally presents itself, you can’t seem to put the lid on your thoughts that continue interrupting this essential function.

Sleep Matters

If you’re still living by the phrase, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead,” you may want to rethink your strategy. Sleep is one of the most important activities we can incorporate into our daily routine for a slew of reasons. Without enough of it, our brains cannot function adequately, making each day at your desk a little more difficult. We’ve all fallen victim to the stressors of deadlines and unfavorable tasks that leave us believing that there really is so much to do and so little time. So we force our eyelids open and power through the lethargically late hours until the crack of dawn, unknowingly making our bodies more prone to disease. We won’t be reaching any deadlines contracting illnesses out here!

Insomnia Struggles

Not a workhorse, but suffer from insomnia? I can personally relate. Even when I’m laying to rest after having the happiest day of my life, I continue to ruminate about recent interactions, which task is the highest priority on my list for the following day, and whether or not I should purchase the Free People jacket I’ve been obsessing over for the last three months. I’ve tried listening to calming music and nature sounds, reducing my caffeine intake, and popping the conventional melatonin to absolutely no avail.
