If you are in search of high-potency CBD oils and other CBD products, it's hard to know where to start, and who to trust. Here's how to help make sure you're getting the best CBD at the highest strength and purity.
There are many CBD products on the market, but not all of them are created equal. Understanding the different types of CBD and taking steps to find products that are third-party tested can help you find a high-quality product.
What's Considered a Strong CBD?
CBD products can be found in a number of different potencies. There is broad-spectrum, full-spectrum and cbd isolate. High potency CBD is considered when a product has at least 50 milligrams of CBD. At lost range.®, our CBD hemp oil potencies range from 1,000mg to upwards of 4,000mg. While the label may tell you the percentage of the CBD in your oil, that isn’t strength.
You need to know how much CBD, in milligrams, is in the bottle, so you can divide that by the amount you take to see how much CBD is in your dose. lost range.® offers only upper end potency and quality, that’s why our lowest milligram percentage starts out at 1,000 and goes up from there.
Our Isolate CBD products contain 0% THC. The CBD isolate we use here at lost range.® is tested at 99.99% CBD. Our Full Spectrum CBD products contain less than .3% THC and contain other cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG and CBC.
With this in mind, it’s important to note that CBD affects everyone differently. What may feel strong to you may not feel as potent to another person. This is especially true if you’re new to CBD. Let’s take a look at some of the positives and negatives to using high potency CBD.
Positives:
- A little goes a long way in terms of usage to experience effects
- You can scale up or down depending on what you need it for
- In the long term, it will be cost effective to have a high dosage on hand
Negatives:
- Higher doses aren’t always necessary for first-time CBD users (you should experiment to see what dose is right for you)
- There is a greater chance for side effects, although rare
Where the Hemp is Sourced
To ensure you’re getting high-quality CBD, you need to check what’s in the bottle. Shockingly, 70 percent of Cannabidiol extracts sold online are mislabeled, according to a Penn Medicine study.
These rogue CBD brands are not mentioning the levels of THC in their products, or they have ‘white label’ CBD products - synthetic cannabinoids that have been known to make some people ill. Make sure your CBD products are sourced from high-grade hemp facilities from companies that control every stage of the process, from growth, to extraction and production. The more involved the CBD company is in this process, the better.
Whatever a label says, quality matters most. This is because quality can affect CBD oil potency.
lost range.®'s raw, bulk CBD is sourced from Hotchkiss Colorado from a close business partner of ours who has been in the CBD farming business since legalization. All of the hemp is grown in that surrounding area using organic practices by a Co-Op of farmers who have small operations (100 acres or less). The majority of the hemp is started in greenhouses as seed or clones and is then planted by hand into the fields.
Extraction Methods Matter
When prioritizing the best CBD products, it’s important that each step of the process is carried out with care and precision. You can grow high-quality hemp, with a large percentage of cannabidiol (CBD), but all of that goes to waste without the proper extraction techniques.
lost range.® uses “Cold Ethanol Extraction”. All the equipment used in this process is made in the USA and is hand fabricated stainless steel ‘stamp’ certified by Federal, State and Local officials. Throughout the process of extraction and refinement these systems are what's called a ‘closed loop’ system. Meaning each stage is performed in a “closed loop” where the material and solvents (i.e. ethanol) are never exposed to the atmosphere until the solvent is fully recovered to be used again. The Importance of Lab Testing
If you buy a low-quality CBD product, you may be ingesting additives or toxic chemicals.
Verifying a product’s Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is important when looking for a high-quality product. Third-party laboratories produce CoAs to ensure that CBD products are safe and properly labeled. All reputable CBD companies provide batch-specific lab results, which you can usually find on the company’s website. If the product you’re buying doesn’t come with a CoA, then it is not a reputable product.
